Not bad, but...

I completely disagree with your glazing over of the 80's, it was in fact probably the most important period in animation history since the golden age of the 30s-50s. During the 70s animation as an industry was in decline and at the end of the decade it was realized by marketing firms that toys would sell better if they could just hammer the brand names into kids' heads but they only had 30 second comercials to do it. The solution? Write a half hour toy commercial and vaguely disguise it as a cartoon! From this such iconic brands as Transformers, GI Joe, He-Man and Thundercats were born. Monetarily speaking it was the most profitable time for animation studios ever and many smaller studios sprang up to try and get a slice of the action. More people were producing more animation for television at this time than in any other period before or since.

cyberen responds:

ok sir, please do me the favor of editing the flash so the 80's are included, with all of those points you mentioned, and I'll put it up here post-haste!

Oh wah-wah-wah

Nice little movie and all, really. Didn't care for the music, it's not to my taste although it did suit the mood of the film. As for the message, weak. Seriously. Does anyone NOT want to be rich? If you found a way to make tons of money for next-to-no effort you'd sell out in a heartbeat and you know it. I wouldn't really call this movie "symbolic" since you're beating the message into us with a sledghammer. And everyone who complains about low-effort flash that gets more attention than their own is just jealous. Period. If people liked what you were putting out, it'd do well, that's all there is to it. If not, then they won't. How can people not grasp this simple concept?

Needs work

Drawing on the works of the masters is a good start. Your characters are obviously penned in the likeness of Crun and Bannister but lack their complete insanity. If you've got access to old Goon Shows, try listening to The Evils of Bushy Spon, it's got some great Henry and Minnie interaction.

Lew82 responds:

Yeah not as much insanity as the real Crun and Bannister, have got a tonne of Goon Shows, but not 'Evils of Bushy Spon', will have a big hunt for it tho. And yes they were the masters indeed.

A chilling spectacle of what may be

Americanization is inevitable. Resistance is futile. Hmm.. sounds familiar somehow....

Jipper responds:

Well, I’d like to tell you all about my dream, it’s a place
Where strip malls abound and diversion’s mere moments away
Where culture’s defined by the ones least refined
And you’ll be left behind if you don’t fit in
It’s all distorted in americana, my way
Well, f*k yeah

As far as I'm concerned

April Fools is over. Not to mention stupid. Big fat zeros for you. Too bad too, if you'd have been straight up I'd have given you a better score because even though the music is lame the animation is good. But I'm not. So there. ZERO.

MindChamber responds:

ahh well, I guess that pole is to far up your ass for you to find your sense of humor.
good luck cunuck

Slick

Do I detect shades of The Maxx? Sweet, sweet work, I anxiously await the next episode.

Duhreetoh responds:

Man, all these comments about the Maxx are really freaking me out! I grew up loving the Maxx animated series, and had a few of the comics, but any resemblance is totally subconscious.
Pretty cool stuff, though.

Let's see...

1. Nazi uniforms were grey, not green
2. The swastika on the poster is backwards
3. You used the wrong "too" in your closing statement

For all that work, you're not really saying much. If I were your teacher, you'd get a C

SurvivalisFutile responds:

good thing your not a teacher...
